People reported trapped in building after earthquake in Taiwan.
The earthquake, which has left buildings tilting at 45-degree angles, was the 94th tremor since a quake hit Taiwan on Sunday.This earthquake has been reported to have a magnitude of 6.4. 4 people have died and many more trapped. Rescuers and trying their best to save the known 5 trapped but reports till have 140 unaccounted for.
The earthquake hit Tuesday just after midnight. At least 5 buildings were craved in; other buildings completing lost their bottom floors to the quake. The worst reported was a military hospital which was left at 45 degrees. Roads were seen with large cracks in them while the tremor disrupted electricity and water supplies to thousands of households, the National Fire Agency said.
Taiwan is in a seismically active zone. Geologists have identified 42 active incidents on the island. Most of the earthquakes registered in Taiwan actually occur off the east coast and cause little damage, whereas smaller quakes beneath the island itself have historically proven more destructive. The most recent major earthquake was the 921 earthquake which struck on 21 September 1999, and claimed 2,415 lives.
This events has proven to be a tragic disaster. Innocent Men, Women and Children effect and hurt from this earthquake. It is upsetting that there is little I can do to help and show me support for the people effected by the earthquake. This can also be the attitude for many other people. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, especially ones like this one, build much sympathy world wide and have many people feeling sorry for the people involved.
