What is cross platform advertising?

There are different definitions of the meaning of platform advertising. When typed in on google the definition of 'Cross-Platform Advertising' it stated:
'Cross-platform, also known as cross-media, is a reference to the state of your advertising spanning multiple media types, e.g. tv, mobile and paid search.'

I strongly agree with this definition of Cross-Platform Advertising because it is wide variety of media types used to advertise a certain product or media. Examples of this are advertisements of upcoming films. This can be found on the sides of busses, which are very effective because across London alone there are hundreds of buses. People walk and drive pass busses all the time and seeing a big poster on the Big Red Bus helps the advert stand out.

Another effective example of Cross-Platform advertising is advertising pictures\posters on tubes/trains. Tubes are mainly more effective then trains because it is a more preferred type of transport to the public. Whilst on tubes and you and sitting or standing waiting to arrive at your stop the main thing you do is look around. Most of the time your concentration is directed at the posters on the ceiling of the tube. This is possibly on of the most effective type of Cross-Platform  advertising on public transport. Mostly because the tubes has sees thousands of people a day.

TV adverts is also another main example of Cross-Platform advertising. Most of the time the most intriguing form of advertising is film trailers. These are what interests people to wanting to watch new films. Advertising on TV is effective because watching TV is very popular, people love to watch TV and when ad breaks come on and advertising companies get to express and show off their products.

E-media is another popular form of cross platform advertising.  Simply because it is one the most popular forms on social contact. It also very good at targeting the younger generation with the promoting of upcoming films etc.
