Weekly News #13 PART2
Parents of chained siblings charged with torture
The parents of 13 siblings who were starved and chained to beds in California have been charged with torture and child endangerment.
David Allen Turpin, 57, and Louise Anna Turpin, 49, were arrested on Sunday after a 17-year-old emaciated girl escaped from their house in Perris, about 70 miles east of Los Angeles, and called police.
Police said they found several of the couple's 13 children, aged between two and 29, "shackled to their beds with chains and padlocks in dark and foul-smelling surroundings". "The victims appeared to be malnourished and very dirty," a statement said.
1 in 10 children experience neglect in their life time. Also over 26, 000 children had to be protected from neglect in 2016. These statistics shows how serious these crimes are. Also highlight the impact and severity of the siutation. The information and background on the parents show no reason for the parents to act in the ways they did. They didn't seem to be in any finacial problems so the reasons to which built up to these events are still unknown.
This is tragic post and also very disturbing. Shocking news across the world. It creates so much sympathy across the world also because viewers such as myself will see this post and feel so sorry for the innocent 13 siblings who went through this tragic experience. It is also quite disturbing because as my last weeks Weekly News I touched upon crime no a days because link towards the younger generations but no. We still so shocking posts such as this and this almost opens our eyes as a society to see that the world is full of crime committed by people of all ages.
