Beyoncé - Formation VS Dizzee Rascal - Dream
Beyonce formation is based on the events in New Orleans. It touches on the events and issues of the music videos. Beyonce has had a different approach on how to touch on these issues. In my opinion i think she has tried to show appreciation and sympathy by making a video about these events but they way in which she has does this isn't effective. To touch on situation that carries as much weight you need to address it in a professional manor but Beyonce hasn't taken a professional approach in this video.
Throughout the song the language and terminology she uses the word 'Illuminati'. This word has negative connotations and the fact she uses in a song that carries this much weight shouldn't be used. The main aim of music videos is to show of messages in the video. Throughout this video we see pictures and glimpses of exotic dancing and scenes.
1:44 of the video we see a cast of lack men with Beyonce standing infront, we see a line of which can seen and linked to slavery. They are possibly standing outside the big house. This could possibly link to slavery in new orleans.
In the music video Dream we see Dizzee Rascal using his lived events and childhood memories to tell a story and use it as inspiration to the target audience, whilst telling them that theres hope to achieve their goals. Throughout the video uses puppets to represent the people of when he was younger. But he has use a middle class dominant person such the women on the piano to represent the overalling power people of her class hold. The stings attached to the puppets can represent how society is controlled y the overpowered middle class. The women on the piano is shown without strings. This instantly means that she isn't controlled by anyone. Judging by the size of the women compared to everyone we see briefly see her dominance over everyone else.
